(This post is dedicated to the beautiful Swifties, who have turned their grownups in to Swifties along the way.)
Where in the world is The Hiker's Home Office?!? Well, sometimes the best laid plans turn into a major $#itshow. And this has been quite a show.
I foolishly used to say that I had good travel karma. But then my boyfriend broke up with me! It's been the loml.
I've spent so much time on the United customer service chat line, that I really should say "thanK you aIMee" for all the times I've been disconnected.
To be fair, it might not have been a good idea to ask aIMee "Who's afraid of little old me? Well, you SHOULD BE!"
Anyway... back to the $#itshow!
It just so happens that I booked Jamie's northerly flip up to Helena, Montana (and my corresponding personally delivered resupply!) for the very day that a brief but intense band of storms descended on Denver and (it seems) virtually everywhere, disrupting an astounding number of United flights. The ripple effect, perfectly illustrated. So, while I sat at Reagan National Airport for about 5 1/2 hours, knowing I would be missing my connecting flight to Helena, Jamie was enroute to Denver from Santa Fe. However, the aforementioned storms caused his flight to be diverted to Colorado Springs. What a mess.
I could try to detail the various ways everything went haywire for us, and the frustrating, ridiculous, seemingly impossible customer service whiplash we've been subjected to, but seriously... who likes a complainer?! Sometimes, you just have to "shake it off" and "keep cruisin' [can't stop, won't stop] groovin'."
So this post finds me sitting in a hotel room in Denver, killing time before my delayed and rerouted flight leaves for Missoula, where I will rent a car and drive to Helena where my suitcase with Jamie's resupply sits.
(One MIGHT be inclined to ask "aIMee" how United could be SO efficient in getting my bag to Helena, but can't find a seat on a flight to Helena for me for 3 days! But, this goes back to karma teaching me a lesson, so we'll just move on.)
It's been a crazy 24 hours, to be sure, but there IS a silver lining. Look who rented a car in Colorado Springs and drove to Denver!
Good Stuff.

Well I guess the car renter was Jamie. Since you were already in Denver.
Why am I always so confused!!? Who rented a car? ME meaning Shelby, or Jamie because of the picture?
